E’ NATA “UN WOMEN” LA NUOVA AGENZIA PER I DIRITTI DELLE DONNE OPERATIVA PRESSO LE NAZIONI UNITE.

NY, 30 giugno 2010 – Si è celebrato un grande successo per la società civile, in particolar modo per le oltre 300 donne di tutto il mondo che fanno parte della Campagna internazionale, sostenuta anche da AIDOS (Associazione italiana donne per lo sviluppo), GENDER EQUALITY ARCHITECTURE REFORM (GEAR) impegnata da quattro anni nel chiedere alle Nazioni Unite la creazione di una nuova e più efficiente agenzia per i diritti delle donne, che promuova l’uguaglianza di genere e i diritti delle donne nel mondo. Il 30 giugno l’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite ha istituito la nuova agenzia UN Women che sarà operativa dal 2 luglio 2010 e che vede la fusione di quattro istituti impegnati da tempo a sostenere i diritti delle donne presso le Nazioni Unite: UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) e l’Office of the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI).

NY, June 30, 2010 - We celebrated a major success for civil society, particularly for the more than 300 women from around the world who are part of the international campaign, supported by AIDOS (Italian Association for Women in Development), GENDER EQUALITY ARCHITECTURE REFORM (GEAR) engaged for four years at the United Nations in calling for the creation of a new and more effective agency for women's rights, promoting gender equality and women's rights in the world. On 30 June the UN General Assembly established the Women A new agency will be operational by July 2, 2010 and sees the merger of four institutions involved from time to support women's rights at the United Nations: UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) and the Office of the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI ).
